World Series Final Game Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various languages.
