Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
